Jan enjoyed many cultural activities and was an avid cinema goer. When she died her brother planned a memorial ceremony in her favourite art house cinema – right at the end of her street.
Jan had decided to donate her body to medical science so that she could continue to help people after her untimely death, so to create a presence at the ceremony, her coat (that she had expertly tailored herself) was placed over the back of her favourite chair with red roses in the seat.
It looked as if she had just popped out.
A film was made of photographs of her life which played on the big screen after stories had been shared. Friends stayed in the cinema space to toast Jan’s image with fine wine and cake.
