Mel’s Dad Jack died suddenly in a care home in Lancashire. Most of the family connections were living in and around Brighton and the decision was made to move him closer.
Having received various quotes it became clear what the most cost-effective way of transporting Jack to Brighton would be. So Mel got in her car and went to collect her Dad with a very supportive friend by her side.
The trip became like an extended pall-bearing mission. There was plenty of time to listen to music and speak to Jack. Afterwards Mel commented that it was a privilege to have had the opportunity and felt truly exhilarated by what she had been able to achieve. A job well done and a great example of the positive feelings that can come from being directly involved in the funeral process.
Jack was cremated in the morning, and that afternoon his ashes were scattered out at sea from a boat full of his loving family.
