Meaningful bespoke funerals
Meaningful funerals can take many forms, and much depends on what you would like to do. The specific circumstances of each funeral are always unique. We want you to be proud of what we put together.
We are experienced progressive funeral directors with a beautiful, calming premises at Preston Park train station. We’ve been supporting communities in Brighton & Hove and beyond for eight years. We are passionate about our work and approach. We will listen to your needs and use our experience to help you to make the best of things.
As fully trained celebrants we can also support you through the ceremonial aspects of funeral gatherings as well as taking care of all the practical and legal elements. We can also help you to put together creative elements to really personalise the event.
Help to arrange a funeral
You will need to consider how to say goodbye. This will involve practical and emotional decision-making so that all legal obligations are met and the people involved can mourn/celebrate on their own terms. Take your time.
We can support you through the entire funeral arranging process, or just help with specific jobs.

Ceremonial, ritual support
We are qualified secular non-denominational celebrants. We can offer you one person to support you through the logistical process and the ceremonial part of the funeral. We can help you put together a funeral ceremony that is mixed religious, semi-religious, or non-religious. We will work out how to say that final goodbye in a personal, reflective way whilst considering everyone who might be coming along.
We can help to connect you to an appropriate faith leader if needed. We are also happy to offer ceremonial support as a standalone service and can work alongside any other funeral director of your choice.

Caring for the person who has died
A body is a person who is no longer there; not a health risk. It is absolutely your choice what happens to them. We can collect the person who has died and care for them in our specialist facility until the day of the funeral.
You can direct us to wash and dress the body and tuck them in their coffin or shroud. We follow respectful, non-intrusive procedures when it comes to washing, dressing and caring for the body. You can arrange to come and visit your person in our peaceful chapel of rest at a time that suits you.
Care for the body at home
You may wish to care for the body yourself at home before the funeral takes place. This can be both practical and meaningful.
We teach practical courses to support you to confidently care for a body at home. This is something that many cultures, including our own, have taken on as a responsibility for most of the history of humankind. It offers you time to come to terms with what has happened gently, and say goodbye in your own time.
Completing the paperwork
There is a certain amount of legal paperwork to be done in respect of the funeral proceedings.
Contact us now if you’d like us to take care of this for you.
Some deaths are referred to the coroner, otherwise a medical examiner will review the clinical notes to agree the cause of death with you. The medical examiner works with doctors to complete a medical certificate of cause of death (MCCD). Once the completed MCCD has been sent to the registry office you will be able to make your appointment to register the death, collecting any death certificates you might need to close down bank accounts and similar.
Your funeral arranger will have the additional necessary forms when you meet and can help you complete them. The forms differ depending on whether the person is to be buried or cremated.
Aftercare
We forge meaningful relationships with our clients during the funeral process. We are always on hand after the funeral and can guide you to appropriate bereavement support.
You might choose to work with us on a fitting memorial after he funeral date. We have accompanied families out to scatter ashes at sea, supporting with music and poetry.
We can support and empower you to create you the space and time you need to begin to process things. We’re always here.
